QEM 2021 > Presentation

QEM - Quantitative Electron Microscopy - is an international event dedicated to advanced techniques and quantitative measurements in Transmission Electron Microscopy. It covers theoretical and practical aspects of most of the investigation techniques available in electron microscopy together with their recent developments: conventional and scanning high-resolution imaging, holography, tomography, quantitative electron diffraction, energy loss spectroscopy, and energy dispersive X-ray analysis, environmental and in-situ TEM. Instrumental aspects dealing with electron guns, correctors, and detection devices are also studied.

Each aspect is covered through lectures, "pen and paper" works, practical sessions on microscopes, and computer lab sessions. Round tables are also organized as lively debates in order to optimize the interaction of participants with the worldwide experts contributing to the school.

As only advanced techniques and measurements are covered it is assumed that attendees already know the rudiments of electron microscopy.

Scientific Council :

The scientific council of QEM is in charge of validating the scientific program and will also bring a lot of inputs before and during QEM time.

It is composed of former QEM teachers, organizers, and students.

Bénédicte Warot-Fonrose, CEMES, Toulouse, France

Carlos A.O. Ramirez, LNNano, Campinas, Brazil

Demie Kepaptsoglou, SuperSTEM, Daresbury, England

Enrique Carbó-Argibay, INL, Braga, Portugal

Etienne Snoeck, CEMES, Toulouse, France

Peng-Han Lu, ER-C, Jülich, Germany

Sara Bals, EMAT, Anvers, Belgium

Susana Trasobares, UCA, Cadix, Spain

Teresa Hungria, UMS Castaing, Toulouse, France

Carlos A.O Ramirez, Enrique Carbo-Argibay, Peng-Han Lu and Teresa Hungria are former QEM students and now part of the scientific council. Let's hear what they have to say about QEM and why you should come!
